Join us for the opening of the National Photographic Portrait Prize 2025, one of Australia’s leading celebrations of contemporary photographic portraiture.

Presented by the National Portrait Gallery, the National Photographic Portrait Prize features exceptional work by emerging and established photographers from across Australia. Showcasing portraits of well-known figures and everyday Australians, the exhibition reflects the diversity and strength of contemporary photographic practice.

The opening event will feature a special address by Rebecca Blake, Curator at the National Portrait Gallery, offering insights into the exhibition and this year’s prize.

Finalists for the 2025 prize were selected by an esteemed judging panel comprising writer and broadcaster Benjamin Law, Serena Bentley, Senior Curator at the National Portrait Gallery, and Leigh Robb, Curator of Contemporary Art at the Art Gallery of South Australia.
